Homeowners In Aitkin Area Rally Together After Tornado Damage

CEDAR LAKE, Minn. — Homeowners in the Aitkin area are working together to clean up the damage after at least one tornado rolled through Wednesday night.

The damage on Cedar Lake, just outside of Aitkin, consisted of lots of fallen trees. Resident Bill Moga has lived in the area more than 20 years.

“I went down the basement and the house started shaking and making a lot of noise in the head a little bit of hail. And the wind came in a matter of a minute,” said Moga. “It was all over.”

And while it’s been a mess of a time to clean up all the downed trees, Moga is thankful for the community nearby knowing the damage could have been much worse.

“You know how tornadoes are. They are terrible. So yeah, but nobody got hurt. All the neighbors are fine,” said Moga. “And that’s the important thing, I guess.”

Beyond his neighbors, there have been no reports of anyone seriously injured from Wednesday’s night severe weather.
