Cherry will next face Springfield at 1:30 PM on Friday.
ST. CLOUD, Minn.- The Cherry baseball team achieved a bit of history as they made their first state tournament appearance in 16 years on Thursday.
Cherry matched up with Lac qui Parle Valley in the Class A quarterfinals.
It would be a fast start for the Tigers as they put up four runs in the bottom of the 1st. That included RBI’s from Isaac Asuma, Noah Sundquist, and Mason Heitzman.
Two innings later, that lead went down to one as the Eagles made it a 4-3 contest.
But then in the 4th, Isaac Asuma increased the Tigers lead back up to three with an RBI single.
Cherry moves on to the semifinal round with the 6-3 victory. They’ll next face Springfield at 1:30 PM on Friday.
