One Dead, Two Critically Injured, One Behind Bars After Sawyer County Rollover

BASS LAKE, Wis. — One is dead, two others critically injured, and one is behind bars after a the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a rollover crash in the Town of Bass Lake.

The crash happened on Highline Road, just south of Williams Road. There officers found a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac in the east ditch-line heading northbound.

Three passengers were ejected from the vehicle.

19-year-old Reese J. Frederick of Hayward was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 16 and 17-year-old female passengers, who were also from Hayward, sustainable life threatening injuries and were transported to a Minnesota hospital for medical treatment.

The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Dabid Flores of Hayward, received minor injuries and was released from a local hospital.

Flores is currently being held in Saywer County Jail pending the charges of Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, the Sawyer County Medical Examiner, and Wisconsin State Patrol.
