Local Solutions to Poverty Forum Lets Community Members Take Center Stage
Candidates for local office meet with community members to discuss issues the community is facing.
A growing number of Duluth citizens have become concerned about disparities in education, housing, and wages.
The Local Solutions to Poverty Forum addressed those issues by having taxpayers and potential candidates meet and share their ideas on how to solve the problems facing the city.
Unlike some other forums, community members expressed their concerns and held center stage most of the night.
“The Local Solutions to Poverty Forum is flipped where the people that have the most time on the mic are the people that are from the community experiencing the issues that the candidates will have ultimately power to influence,” said Drew Anderson, a volunteer with Loaves and Fishes.
The forum is in its fourth year and is held every election cycle.
