Trio of Former Greyhounds Enjoying Summer Reunion with Duluth Huskies
The Huskies next home game is Sunday against the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
DULUTH, Minn.- When Ethan Cole, Charlie Sutherland, and Joe Vos wrapped up the 2021 season at Duluth East. They probably thought that was the last time that they would all be able to play baseball together.
Fast forward to this summer, and the trio has reunited with the Duluth Huskies.
For Vos, he’s the veteran of the group, suiting up in his 3rd year as a Huskie.
He would be teammates with Cole last summer, as the current Bulldog in his 2nd year playing Northwoods league ball.
Lastly, Sutherland is the rookie of the group.
Cole and Vos say the reunion brings plenty of positives on the field and off.
“I’ve known these guys since I was probably around nine, maybe even younger. So kind of growing up with them and still playing baseball with them is kind of a really surreal thing, especially at a level where we are. It’s a cool thing to stay local as well and have them on the team, know guys on the team when you walk in,” said Cole.
“All three of us are good ball players and those two have tons of talent. It’s really nice to be able to showcase that again, especially in Duluth. All three of us are living at home so that’s convenient. Also just having people that support us. Having friends come out, family, old teachers, coaches, whoever I’m just really, really thankful for that moment,” added Vos.
As for Sutherland, he says things are a little different since the last time they were all together.
“They were kind of showing me the ropes of high school baseball. They would get me in the weight room with all the older guys when I was younger. Obviously just a little bit separated in skill level and now that we’re all in the college level age group. It feels like I’m playing more with them as peers than they are as mentors or leaders. I mean obviously we’re still learning from each other,” said Sutherland.
