New Space Needed For The Snake Pit

HERMANTOWN, Minn. — A longtime reptile shop and education center in the Northland is looking for a new place to call home.

The Snake Pit in Hermantown has dedicated 6 years of welcoming reptile hobbyists to their space. Whether guests come in to see the animals, or adopt one of their own, there really is something for everyone. The building they are located in was recently sold. The owner Roger Hill says they’re hoping to continue this ongoing business.

“We just need a spot where we can operate. Where we can continue to do programs, and birthday parties and things like that.” explained Hill

In the pit, staff and volunteers are eager to help people get educated and comfortable with reptiles. The volunteers are able to express their passions in a positive environment.

“I don’t make a cent. I volunteer my time here. It’s important to me, it’s important to keep the animals healthy, and to keep this going.” said volunteer Nicole Ehresman

The Snake Pit has been around for 6 years, but Hill has been educating others about reptiles for 36 years. If you’re looking to help The Snake Pit find their new home, you can check out their go-fund-me to help contribute to this cause.
