Port Wing’s Megan Gustafson Officially Named to Spanish Women’s Basketball Olympic Team
It all starts on July 28th when Spain begins Group A play against China.
PORT WING, Wis.- Back in February, Port Wing native Megan Gustafson and the Spanish national team officially qualified for the Summer Olympics in Paris.
On Tuesday, it was announced that the center will be one of the 12 players on Spain’s roster set to play on the big stage.
Gustafson left no doubt when she averaged a team-high 14 points in three games at the Olympic qualifying tournament.
She’s able to play for the team after gaining citizenship back in June of 2023.
It all starts on July 28th when Spain begins Group A play against China. They will then face Puerto Rico on July 31st and Serbia on August 3rd.
If all goes well, Gustafson and Spain could advance to the semifinals on August 9th. The medal games are scheduled for August 11th.
