Strong Voter Turnout Reported In Superior
It was an important day for the Badger state as people headed to the polls to vote for the candidates who best represent what matters to them.
Wisconsin is a crucial primary state and the respective front–runners in the Democratic and Republican presidential races are looking at a potential loss.
The Wisconsin primary is a winner–take–most contest for Republican delegates and there are 42 delegates for the taking.
A portion of the delegates are awarded to the winner of the statewide vote.
The GOP candidate needs to win a majority of the state’s eight congressional districts.
How these delegates are allocated to the Republican candidates could set the path to a contested GOP convention.
Pamela Brokaw, Chief Inspector of Superior voting, said “The turnout has been wonderful. We’ve had a lot of new voters. I would say we will be up to 40% at least.”
Officials said the turnout from today’s voting was more like a presidential election than a primary election.
They saw many new voters this year as well as students coming out to cast their vote.
Nick Pond, a college student, said “I think that because we are the future leaders of america and we are the future job force and we have the most important opinion on what’s going to happen in the future.”
