Two Former Duluth Huskies Selected on 3rd & Final Day of MLB Draft
Burns and Wells join Jaron DeBerry as Huskies selected in the 2024 MLB Draft.
DULUTH, Minn.- It was the 3rd and final day of the MLB Draft on Tuesday.
Plenty of former and current Huskies were still on the board. And two, wouldn’t have to wait long to hear their name called.
First off the board was pitcher Mason Burns. Burns was selected in the 14th round at pick number 411 by the St. Louis Cardinals.
He spent the 2022 and 2023 season in Duluth, pitching in 18 games and making six starts.
Two rounds later, one of Burns’ teammates in 2023 was taken by the San Diego Padres at number 480 . That being outfielder Kasen Wells.
In 34 games, Wells tallied 35 hits with a batting average of .310.
Burns and Wells join Jaron DeBerry, who was picked in the 3rd round by the Brewers, as Huskies drafted in this year’s MLB draft.
