Duluth FC Set for First Regional Appearance Since 2022

The winner in Wednesday's matchup will go on to the regional finals to face Steel City FC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 20th.

DULUTH, Minn.- Duluth FC achieved club history this past weekend, winning their first NPSL North Conference Championship since 2017.

It’s also the 3rd major NPSL trophy for the team.

But, the jobs not finished as Duluth FC will hit the road Wednesday evening to play Des Moines United FC in the Midwest Regional semifinals.

It’s been two years since the last time the BlueGreens made it this far.

And if they want to go further, head coach Sean Morgan says it’s important to stick to what’s been working well all season long for his team.

“I think we have to play, we have to be true to the team we’ve been all season. In terms of how we play, we’re very much attacking and possession based. I don’t think that will change. At the same time though, there has been games this year, particularly Saturday as well where we’ve had backs to the wall. We’ve had to grind a little more and maybe everything hasn’t gone our way in 90 minutes. I think it definitely will be a bit of both,” said Morgan.

For the players, they say it hasn’t always been an easy road. But what they’ve been through is only going to help them in tough situations.

“It’s been different because we have had setbacks and we have had to face adversity with crucial people, players getting injured, tough losess on the road. I think that’s the biggest difference. We’ve actually had to overcome adversity and we’ve stuck together through it instead of the group falling apart,” said midfielder Myles Edmond.

It’s just all confidence now. The locker room is buzzing. The boys are confident so we just have to go out there and keep the run of confidence now,” added goalkeeper Jamie Colvill.

The winner in Wednesday’s matchup will go on to the regional finals to face Steel City FC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 20th.
