CASDA Hosts 12th Annual Socks for Survivors Golf Scramble

SUPERIOR, Wis. — CASDA held their 12th annual Socks for Survivors Golf Scramble Thursday.

The tournament was held at Nemadji Golf course in Superior. This is one of their two main fundraising events each year. In addition to the tournament, they had live music, a raffle, door prizes, and a Sock Contest. The sock contest had several prizes for different categories.

“We had a board member and, when we decided to do a golf scramble or tournament, whatever you want to call it, she said wouldn’t it be cool, years ago, if we had some sort of theme and so what we know is adults and children who are fleeing violent relationships often times show up to our emergency shelter program with just the clothes on their backs so we were like socks underwear why not do a socks theme so we’ve kept the theme throughout the years,” said Kelly Burger, Executive Director of CASDA.

“We appreciate the work that CASDA does. We know it’s really difficult work and it’s nice to have an event like this where we can celebrate what they do and support victims/survivors in the twin ports community and make sure that they have the shelter and safety planning and all of the options that CASDA offers them when they are kind of really struggling on one of the worst days of their lives,” said Mary Faulkner, Interim Executive Director at PAVSA.

50-60% of the registration fees goes back to CASDA for their programs.
