Two Separate Fires Thursday in the City of Superior
SUPERIOR, WI. — On July 25th, the Superior Fire Department responded to two separate fires in the City of Superior.
At 11:26 pm, crews were dispatched to a large commercial building at 5401 Oakes Ave, according to a press release.
Upon arrival, they found heavy fire that quickly caused the roof to collapse, making an interior attack impossible.
Firefighters fought the blaze from the outside using a Tower Ladder and hand lines, containing the fire to the building of origin.
They remained on the scene until 3:21 am. The building was a total loss, and the cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
Earlier that day, at 3:12 pm, the department responded to a residential fire at 1817 Oakes Ave.
Flames and smoke were visible from a first-floor window. Firefighters, informed by neighbors of multiple dogs inside, quickly extinguished the fire and rescued the animals.
There were no injuries to civilians, firefighters, or pets, and damage was confined to the area of origin.
The cause of this fire is also under investigation.
