Prep Hockey: Summerfest Tournament Gets Underway
Hermantown, East and Denfeld fall behind in Friday scrimmages
PROCTOR, Minn.- It may be the offseason, but local high school hockey teams returned to the ice for some friendly competition in day one of the Hockey Proctor Summerfest.
After falling one win short of the Class A State Championship last season, the new-look Hermantown Hawks fell to Benilde-St. Margarets 4-2 on their home ice.
Duluth East scored first in their scrimmage against St. Cloud Cathedral, but quickly fell behind before losing 4-1.
Class A State Semifinalist Mahtomedi shut out Duluth Denfeld 2-0 ahead of the Zephyr’s Saturday matchup against Northern Lakes.
