Harbor Monsters Look to Reel in Win Against Lunkers in First Round of Playoffs
If the Harbor Monsters win, they'll meet either the Kansas City Goats or Iowa Woo in ArenaMania on August 10th.
DULUTH, Minn.- First successful regular season for the Duluth Harbor Monsters results in the first-ever home playoff game.
And if they can get their first playoff win, it’s off to the first ArenaMania.
But, first things first is the Ozarks Lunkers.
Duluth has dominated the head-to-head meetings this year, winning all three games and outscoring Ozarks 162 to 116.
Head Coach Tony O’Neil dived into the X’s and O’s explaining why the Harbor Monsters have been able to handle the Lunkers so far this season.
“For us, it’s just speed and physicality. They cannot match up with us very well. They have a lot of bigger studs on their program that just don’t move well with us. So us in space versus them in space, it’s completely opposites. And that’s the reason why we’ve been able to be so successful,” said O’Neil.
Duluth rattled off four straight wins to end the regular season, which was a different story from earlier in the year when the team was just 1-3.
“I feel like the last four games it’s just been everyone having fun. From the top to the bottom. From the GM to our owner to our coaches obviously and all our players. Everyone is just playing for each other and having fun,” said quarterback Ja’Vonte Johnson.
“Guys are just willing to help get an edge so when you get subbed out, there’s no miscommunication. Everybody does their part so I feel like we’re going to be good,” added quarterback and wide receiver Hassan Brockman.
Kick-off is set for 7 PM on Saturday at the DECC.
