Lincoln Park Celebrates National Farmers’ Market Week

DULUTH, Minn. — Lincoln Park Farmers’ Market has landed state-wide recognition from the Minnesota Farmers’ Market Association.

The year-round market at Harrison Park has been chosen as the state’s representative for National Farmers’ Market Week. On Thursday there was plenty of fresh produce, of course, and live music. Duluth Grill offered free tacos for everybody.

And on top of that the Lincoln Park Farmers’ Market goes beyond cash transactions.

“If you use your EBT card, you can swipe it for 15 dollars, and you’ll actually get 40 dollars to spend with our vendors. Which really helps people stretch their grocery budget. And make some of those special foods. You can get the most amazing steak here, farm fresh eggs. It makes it a little more accessible to folks,” said Kayla Pridmore, Seeds of Success Program Manager.

There were also 25 different vendors were set up at the market. For one of the vendors, it was a great way to get her name out there as a small business.

“I think the main mission for my booth is more about meeting community people and building the relationships with people that come back week after week,” said Barbara Miron, owner of Abundant Wellness, LLC. “Shopping local supports small businesses. And also, your food is the most fresh because it’s your neighbor that’s just picked it probably this morning or yesterday. And it’s serving it and supporting their small farm and business.”

When the weather starts getting colder the Lincoln Park Farmers’ Market will head into the Harrison Community Center every Wednesday afternoon.
