Esko Community Scores With New Basketball Court
ESKO, Minn.– The Esko school scored big by upgrading their basketball court.
8 years of planning finally paid off when Esko decided to give their basketball court a new makeover.
Right on time for the annual Esko Fun Days celebration. The community is celebrating this new playing space by hosting a three-on-three tournament.
The gym is known for filling up, so having more playing room is an exciting change.
“It levels the playing field for sure for kids that can’t always get in the gym every time they have a moment to play ball. But now everybody can play ball when they want to.” said Michele Carlson, Director of Community Education at Esko Schools.
The goal for this project was to help prevent injuries with the softer material. This space gives kids a better court right in their neighborhood.
It just took a lot of different groups to chip in money. Groups that shared that vision.” explained Matt Berger, the youth basketball director. “And I think everybody in Esko knew that something needed to be done. And it was just a matter of finding the resources and the people to get it done.”
The process of installing the new court only took two days. Each tile was laid down one by one. The court also features new hoops as well. They’re hoping that this new court can help open more playing room during the busy spring season.
