Art of All Mediums Welcomed at Art in Bayfront Park
DULUTH, Minn. — It’s no secret that Duluth loves art, but at this year’s Art in Bayfront Park, more than just fine artists celebrated over the two-day art fair.
This year the Twin Ports Music Festival joined the large coalition of local and national artists.
Art in Bayfront Park has been a Duluth summer staple for the last 14 years.
This year over 140 artist set up vendor booths selling hand-made crafts and decorations. Artists ranged from fine art paintings, to pottery, sculptures, clothings, jewelry, and more.
For the last three years, Art in Bayfront Park has also been welcoming over a dozen small business from around the states for their Culinary Arts Market.
From bakers to hot sauces, and even nontraditional mushroom coffee vendors were present to showcase to the Twin Ports more of what you typically can’t find in a grocery store.
“Everybody has different products, and we actually have a different product than anybody has, because ours, our original recipes, we don’t really compete with anybody with like barbecue sauces or rubs or anything like that,” said Tom Lemon, the owner of Viking Seasoning. “Duluth always has excellent people, tourists and locals alike. Seems that people come out and have a very good time. And I guess that’s really what it’s all about, to get out and enjoy this world.”
Preparations are already underway for next year’s Art in Bayfront Park. Organizers say that they are glad to welcome in new artists and hope their partnership with the Twin Ports Music Festival grows.
“We are always looking for new artists, both in the culinary market, but also in our Arts Market. We jury into this festival, so there is a panel of artist peers that go through all the applications and pick who can be here. And they’re looking for diversity in your art, also uniqueness in your art,” said Stephanie Hansen, the organizer for the Culinary Art Market. “But we really love this festival, because we really get to bring a lot of people from all over the Midwest to Duluth to this beautiful shores of Bayfront Park.”
