St. Scholastica Football Hoping Successful Off-Season Translates Over to the Field
The Saints still have two weeks before they kickoff their regular season on September 14th at home against Rockford University.
DULUTH, Minn.- The St. Scholastica football team may have a later start to their season compared to other teams.
But, they’re eager to turn things around after a 2-8 campaign in 2023.
The Saints had an eventful off-season which included an exhibition game just three months ago in Canada.
They’re hoping with that successful showing plus all the work that they put in off the field, it will translate over to on the field.
Quarterback Donald West returns for his 2nd year as the starter. He says they take a simple approach when trying to get better.
“It’s just about stacking days together with the boys. It comes with the work. When you put in work everyday with your guys and they help you with just the grind, it just gets easier and easier to lean on these guys. I would just say our connection and chemistry, it’s all about off the field. Our connection and chemistry off the field, it just ties into everything that happens on there,” said West.
On the defensive side of the ball, cornerback Isaiah Walters says it takes all 11 players in order to be successful.
“Every guy does something unique. Whether that’s tackling, being able to guard. Everyone can play to their strengths and I felt like we play to our strengths and they bounce off each other well,” added Walters.
