Duluth Public Schools Exceeds State Averages in 2024 Accountability Test Results
DULUTH, Minn. — Duluth Public Schools is showing great progress in its 2024 Accountability Test results.
The data shows that in reading, math, and science, Duluth is above statewide trends. Superintendent John Magas says he believes the results are part of a strategic roadmap. That involves three focus areas which are supporting students, advancing equity and improving systems. Magas also believes in early literacy and giving kids a strong foundation in reading.
“I think what we’ve done now is we’ve focused on a few things and doing a few things really well. And having that focus is really starting to pay off. So, thinking about what are we doing to make sure we’re serving every student every day. That’s what our teachers do, it’s what our other staff does, it’s what our principals and other leadership does. And our families. We focus on family engagement and really the community of Duluth has supported our students well,” said Superintendent Magas.
The school district also saw an increase in attendance last year. School starts for students on Tuesday.
