State Lottery Outdoors Funds Vote Renewal
DULUTH, Minn.–Local outdoor-based companies are urging voters this November to take them into consideration.
Renewal of lottery funds for outdoor conservation will be on the ballot for every Minnesotan.
For thirty years now, a portion of state lottery gets funded for preservation of outdoor spaces.
Overtime, it has provided over one billion dollars for the Great Outdoors. Officials say, if you leave the question blank, it counts as a vote against this renewal.
This fund alone is responsible for the Superior Hiking Trail, as well as COGGS, a non-profit mountain bike advocacy.
“Creating meaningful connections with nature is fundamental to the health and wellbeing of all Minnesotans. And since 1986 the Superior Hiking Trail has been supporting the local quality of life and our local economy by building and maintaining a world class trail system here in Minnesota that connects so many of our beautiful spaces.” said Lisa Luokkala, Executive Director for the Superior Hiking Trail Association.
In order for this renewal to pass, over fifty percent of voters must vote yes.
