BWCAW Wildfire Now 27 Acres, 25 Percent Contained
A wildfire in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) is now 27 acres and 25 percent contained.
The fire ignited Sept. 10 on an island in Wood Lake, which is about 14 miles northeast of Ely.
Some recreational areas nearby are shut down for now.
Officials with the Superior National Forest said the fire is “human caused.”
