New Owner, New Vision For Duluth’s Former Anderson Furniture Bldg.
DULUTH, Minn.– The new owner of the 40-thousand square foot building has a dream to make it into what she calls a “mini mall.”
Duluth entrepreneur DeBora Rachelle and her son are envisioning a restaurant and different shops on the first floor.
The second and third floors could be for vacation rentals or a boutique hotel.
And the fourth floor could be condos for sale that could also act as a vacation rental.
While exact plans are in the early stages, the basement level is set to house DeBora’s new suitcase and travel line, Packwrite.
“We’ve been, I’ve been designing a suitcase called Packwrite, and it’s been like 5 or 6 years that this has been going on. Finally coming down to the nitty gritty where I need to house the business. And we were looking for a building, and this one was available. And it’s a little more than what we needed,” said CEO Lake Superior REOLLC DeBora Rachelle said with a smile.
DeBora, who was born and raised in Duluth, told Fox 21 the 1910 building with original flooring in some locations is an exciting project to renovate,
especially in the growing Lincoln Park Craft District.
“Because the building is so big, we’re actually going to have [it] all about tourist coming to town. Because this is Duluth. My son and I are the investors, and we grew up here. And we’d like to see Duluth prosper,” DeBora said.
Construction is expected to begin in 2025.
In the meantime, DeBora is looking for possible tenants to help craft that “mini mall.”
