Cirrus Plane Makes Emergency Landing On Highway 53 In Wisconsin

WISCONSIN — A Cirrus Aircraft plane made an emergency landing Thursday afternoon.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says at about 12:09 p.m. a Cirrus SR 22 single engine plane had mechanical problems and landed on Highway 53 near Bennett Road.

The plane was on the southbound side closing traffic lanes. It has since been moved off the highway and will be picked up soon, according to authorities.

Officials say the pilot is safe, and no injuries were reported.

This incident is being investigated by the Wisconsin State Patrol and FAA.

Fox 21 received a statement from Cirrus. It reads:

Earlier today, a Cirrus SR22 made an emergency landing on Highway 53 near Solon Springs Airport in Wisconsin. The pilot was uninjured during the experimental flight test, and there were no passengers on board. The aircraft sustained no significant damage, and there were no reported incidents with vehicles on the road.   

Cirrus is actively supporting all appropriate authorities in the investigation.
