Gascon & Kraemer Earn WCHA Weekly Honors, Hermantown Native Ella Anick Named Defender of the Week
UMD returns home this weekend to host Syracuse.
DULUTH, Minn.- Two members of the UMD women’s hockey team picked up WCHA honors after playing key roles in their sweep against top ranked Ohio State.
Goaltender of the Week was given to Eve Gascon, who stopped 75 of the 79 shots she saw against the Buckeyes.
That’s the most saves in a series in her career. The two wins against Ohio State were her first against a top three ranked team and it was also the first series sweep in her career.
Joining Gascon is Caitlin Kraemer, who takes home WCHA Rookie of the Week honors.
The freshman forward had two goals and one assist in the weekend series.
Hermantown native and St. Cloud State defender Ella Anick had a weekend to remember.
She picks up conference Defender of the Week honors after tallying two assists and two blocks in a weekend series with Lindenwood.
Anick also skated in her 100th college game and had a plus four rating in Sunday’s game.
Anick is in her second season with the Huskies. She previously played at Bemidji State.
