Brewery Creek Community Housing Grand Opening
DULUTH, Minn.– A grand opening Monday is a step in the right direction toward helping people get into affordable housing.
This $21.5 million-dollar, 52-unit complex is all about accessibility and equality. This community housing building is located on 4th street in Duluth, across from the Speedway. One Roof Community Housing was responsible, in part, for creating this complex for low-income individuals and it also serves people with disabilities. The goal was to provide high quality permanent housing for the community to help prevent future homelessness.
“A couple weeks back the first tenants moved in. And it’s just awesome, you know? A significant number of people who live here will be young adults that have been unhoused. So, folks that have been in shelters, on the streets or couch hopping. What a wonderful thing to put down roots in a building like this, with a view like this, and just a good safe place to call home,” said Jeff Corey, Executive Director for One Roof Community Housing.
Construction started for this project back in May of 2023, but it was in the works for 8 years.
