Duluth Denfeld Football Gearing Up for Potential Section Title Game Preview at North Branch
The Hunters have shown their ability to put up points in the first four weeks of the season, averaging 56 per game.
DULUTH, Minn.- It’s hard to top the matchup going on in North Branch Friday evening as the 4-0 Duluth Denfeld Hunters visit the defending section 7AAAA champs in the North Branch Vikings.
The Hunters have shown their ability to put up points in the first four weeks of the season, averaging 56 per game.
But the most the Vikings have given up this year is 44 to Hermantown. So something essentially will have to give.
Denfeld head coach Erik Lofald expressed his confidence in his team heading into the big game but added this is certainly a measuring stick game.
“I think we’ve been able to show off exactly what we wanted to do offensively. Again, Taye is the center piece then you add Lee Brooks as the quarterback this last week. Good offensive line play, our receivers getting into it. It’s a total team offense right now and it’s fun to watch. I think we’re pretty high powered obviously, been able to do whatever we want. This week is the test when we go to North Branch. We expect to get their best effort,” said Lofald.
As for Lofald’s workhorse, he says it’s all about protecting the ball and limiting blunders.
“We just have to be mentally prepared for that game. We can’t make too big of mistakes and make us cost the game or even cost up drives,” added running back Taye Manns.
Duluth Denfeld and North Branch kick off at 6 PM on Friday night.
