After Two Seasons of Heartbreak, UWS Volleyball Embracing Revenge Tour in 2024

The Yellowjackets are 3-0 so far this year in divisional play and haven't dropped a set yet to their UMAC counterparts.

SUPERIOR, Wis.- The UWS volleyball team is making a case for the UMAC conference title this season.

The Yellowjackets are 3-0 so far this year in divisional play and haven’t dropped a set yet to their UMAC counterparts.

UWS is coming off a season in which they dropped their 2nd straight title game at the hands of Northwestern.

Head Coach Lynne Deadrick has been pleased with how her team has responded in the 2024 season, adding that the team has been preaching the we not me method.

“I think we are just kind of gelling together as a team. We’re rising up and making some great plays defensively and we’re figuring out ways to score the ball. I think that combination has been working for us and just playing really well together,” said Deadrick.

As for the players, they say that they’ve embraced the revenge tour this year after two consecutive seasons of heartbreak.

“I think just push ourselves in practice. We’ve been working a lot on our mindset and how that plays a huge role in the game. I think just focusing on more on that aspect as well, that will help us,” said setter Colleen Claude.

“We’ve had a lot of girls step up into roles. Our senior outside Maina Stark has been hurt, which has been a really big challenge for us. But I feel that’s just added to our adversity and we’re just really ready to win. We all feel like our collective goal is we’re not only wanting to get there this year, we want to win,” added libero Jenna Anderson.

We’ll have much more on the UWS volleyball team Wednesday night as we caught up with senior Jenna Anderson for this week’s Northern Star. That airs at 9:50 PM.
