DULUTH, Minn. — Lights, camera and action! The Annual Catalyst Content Festival is bringing together writers, directors and film enthusiasts from around the world.

The festival is back and bigger than ever, as local and international content creators share their story ideas.

“PitchWorld” returned to the festival, where writers and creators pitched stories that were judged by Hollywood executives. The fest also includes table reads, panels and screenings of over 75 productions.

One creator from the Twin Cities says the festival is a great way for people to share their passion with others.

“For me it’s easy, it’s a two-and-a-half hour drive up from the cities. But, for a lot of people coming from all over the world, and so it’s important to, get your ideas out there, you want to connect with like-minded people so that when we do leave, we’re still working together,” said content creator Tapan Sharma.

While the festival brings in people from all over, many creators are from right here in the Northland.

“It’s just so different now than it was even 5 years ago, 10 years ago, you know 20 years ago, when you could only be a Hollywood executive and had to live in California,” said Sara Hamilton, Head of Partnerships and Development at Catalyst Story Institute. “It’s amazing now to be here and to be in Duluth, Minnesota. You can be anywhere and have an idea and have a concept and be able to do something about it.”

The festival runs through Sunday, Oct. 6, with events taking place at various downtown Duluth venues. And you don’t have to be in the movie industry to attend.
