DULUTH, Minn.- For the 2nd time in the last four weeks, the UMD football team is coming off a heartbreaking loss.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs gave up the go-ahead touchdown to Augustana with 56 seconds to go, ultimately falling to the Vikings 28 to 24.

Head Coach Curt Wiese said it’s a bummer to lose the way that they did on Saturday but added that the season isn’t lost yet and they can still turn it around.
“Another disappointing loss at the end of the game for us. Had a chance to win it in really all three phases and once again failed to do that. Unfortunately, we’re 3-2 and we’re two plays away from being 5-0. But, as a team we’re going to find out a lot about ourselves this week and how we respond against a hot Northern State team, who’s coming off two quality wins, and what we really want this season. I don’t think we’re out of the race by any means but that game didn’t help us,” said Wiese.
As for the players, they now know just how important every play is.
“I think the big thing, kind of we figured out this year with Moorhead also, we need to figure out a way to win those big games. It comes down to just a few plays. Obviously looking back, things could go a few ways but they didn’t. We have to figure out certain plays go our way in those type of big games,” added quarterback Kyle Walljasper.
Walljasper tossed four touchdowns and ran in another two in his last matchup against Northern State.
Kick-off is at noon on Saturday at Malosky Stadium.
