UW-Superior Students De-Stress with Therapy Dog
SUPERIOR, Wis. — With the stress that school can bring, what better way to unwind than by spending time with a furry friend!
This event is all part of UW-Superior’s monthly de-stress day they’re doing this fall. With having the dog on campus, students are able to learn healthy coping mechanisms for managing stress. In addition, they learn about resources campus offers for mental health. Students can have lots on their plate like financial burdens, new responsibilities, and life adjustments.
“I think it’s great therapy for our students to be able to have an animal like this. Especially one that is so sweet and kind and caring and gentle as Zoey. Especially for a home away from home kind of. Some of our students have pets of their own that they might be missing. And they can now have a little dog time,” said T Wainman, the Gender and Sexuality Coordinator for UWS.
This is the second month UWS has had a de-stress day on campus. Back in September, students got to make shower steamers… and learned how to make cedar tea.
