‘Light Skin Pod’ For Lighthearted Duluth Conversations
FOND DU LAC, Minn.– A new podcast in Duluth is focusing on peeling back the layers of movers and shakers in the city, and why they choose to live here.
“Light Skin Pod” is a podcast shot in a garage in the Fond Du Lac neighborhood.
But this isn’t just any old garage. It’s almost like a Hollywood set, with a pool table, streets signs, lights and arcade games.
Pez Davila is the host of the weekly show. Joe Macor runs and edits the 40-minute interviews. The goal is to tell the life stories of local leaders to inspire and celebrate the community.
“It’s cool to hear about people, their lives. Like I said, how they grew up and the path they’ve taken, because it could be similar to somebody else’s. Going through, what these people have already been through. Then sometimes we go on tangents about life itself,” Davila explained.
The podcast started in January.
Guests have included Duluth Chamber President Matt Baumgartner, KornerStore owner Derek Medved, Councilor Janet Kennedy, St. Louis County Commissioner Ashley Grimm, Councilor Arik Forsman, and Kristi Stokes, president of Downtown Duluth.
FOX 21’s Dan Hanger recently made an guest appearance. And Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert will also soon appear on the show.
“The cool part is, we don’t focus on their profession. We might talk about it at the end, but really what we’re focusing on is that person, their life, how they got there,” Macor said.
The Light Skin Pod has new episodes every Saturday at 10 a.m.
