UMD Students Host 2nd Annual Mock Election
DULUTH, Minn. — UMD students are encouraging new voters to make their voice heard come Election Day.
The Political Science Association hosted its 2nd annual mock election. It’s a chance for students to see what it looks like to vote but also gives them an opportunity to think about who they’ll vote for ahead of big day. This event highlights not only the presidential election, but other local races.
Organizers say this year they are seeing more freshman students ready to vote.
“People who are really excited because this is my first presidential election. When I turned 18, it was kind of the more chill more local elections, but this is really a lot of students first presidential election and it’s very exciting for them. And they’re excited to cast that ballot,” said Elliot Schatz, President of the Political Science Association.
The Political Science Association is a student-run, non-partisan group. They encourage everyone to vote.
