Northern Star: Jake Kidd

Kidd currently leads the Yellowjackets with 17 goals on the season.

SUPERIOR, Wis.- UWS junior forward Jake Kidd has spent his whole life playing soccer in Superior

And talk about a new meaning to homefield advantage as Kidd leads the Yellowjackets in goals with 17 and counting.

“We’ve built a really strong chemistry and that’s allowed for me to help my team by scoring. Wouldn’t be able to do that without my teammates putting me in the right places and helping me out,” said Kidd.

But if it’s not Kidd who finds the net, he still plays a big part in who does.

“4 to 5 penalty kicks this year, he’s the one who won the penalty. He hasn’t taken them, we have a specialist in that category but he’s one those. As much of it’s the goal of the guy that took the pen. You can just as easily give him credit for those goals too,” added head coach Joe Mooney

Doing the little things in hopes of bigger things down the line.

“I think it’s just locking in during training everyday. We have a limited amount of time now. Few practices during the week, we have games and then nationals coming around the corner, the tournament for the playoffs around the corner, for the UMAC,” said Kidd.

And when opportunity knocks, Kidd will be the next to step up.

“I think getting him to kind of break out in the next phase of his leadership is going to be something I certainly want to challenge him and I think he’ll be more than capable of rising up to that challenge,” said Mooney.

UWS and Kidd will next be in action on Saturday when they host Crown.
