Downtown Duluth Welcomes New Mediterranean Restaurant

DULUTH, Minn. — Downtown Duluth welcomed a new Mediterranean restaurant last week and they’re eager to share these flavors with the Northland!

Alto Pino is homing in on seasonal Duluth ingredients and turning them into something new and exciting. The dishes are described as “small but complimentary,” and the meals are meant to be shared with others.

Right now, they have a stuffed eggplant dish, as well as a squash hummus on the menu.

For owner Lauren Aldinger, this restaurant has been a fun learning process.

“I am not from this area as I mentioned. I’m learning a lot about what local ingredients are available. But we started there and brought dishes that are favorites to me. I love Dolmas, which is basically a stuffed, anything you can stuff. So right now, we have eggplant Dolmas on the menu,” said Aldinger.

Stay tuned for next Monday when we feature Alto Pino on our Knowing your Neighbor segment!
