Operation Green Light for Veterans
County turns Green in lead up to Veterans Day
DULUTH, Minn. – There’s a push to turn St. Louis County green, in the lead up to this Veterans Day.
The St. Louis County Board passed a proclamation joining the National Association of Counties (NACo) and counties across the country in Operation Green Light, to send a visible message of support for military veterans. In observance of those who have served, and those who continue to serve, Operation Green Light encourages cities and members of the public to shine green lights in the week leading up to Veterans Day.
“What we’re hoping for is for businesses or residential, homes, you know, put that green light out or string of green lights,” said St. Louis County Veterans Service Officer Jared Sietsema. “Just help us bring awareness and even to remind the veterans that we’re thinking about them and… if they need to seek benefits, come find us.”
The Bentleyville Christmas Tree in Bayfront and Hibbing’s city sign were sporting green tonight to show support for veterans. Landmarks like the Ariel Lift Bridge and Enger Tower will be lit green on Veterans Day.
