Blue Angels Make Stop in Duluth Ahead of 25th Air Show

The Duluth Air Show celebrates its 25th year this summer, with the Blue Angels scheduled to headline

DULUTH, Minn. — This summer marks the 25th year of the Duluth Air Show, and the return of their star performers, the Navy’s Blue Angels.

One of the team’s iconic F-18 Super Hornets flew into Duluth Monday afternoon, carrying two team members who are touring and conducting flyovers of future performance sites.

A group including Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert and air show organizers welcomed the Angels on the tarmac. before heading inside to give remarks about their preparation for this summer.

“We visit 32 show sites and perform two demonstrations, typically in a show weekend,” said Lt. Cmdr Lilly Montana about the Angels’ typical schedule in a summer. Montana said they “will visit each of the 32 different sites between now and about mid-January to meet with the airshow organizers (and) meet with the local community members.”

According to organizers, the Duluth Air Show attracts around 50,000 people over a single weekend and bring in $15 million to area businesses.
