#4 UMD Women’s Hockey Looks to Bounce Back Against Bemidji State

UMD currently has a 13-game winning streak against the Beavers that dates back to January 23rd of 2021.

DULUTH, Minn.- The 4th ranked UMD women’s hockey team will be eager to get back on the ice after they dropped both of their previous two games against 3rd ranked Minnesota.

The Bulldogs continue their homestand on Friday when they welcome in a Bemidji State squad, who they’ve had their number in recent years.

UMD currently has a 13-game winning streak against the Beavers that dates back to January 23rd of 2021. Even more of an impressive stat is eight of those contests have resulted in a UMD shutout of Bemidji State.

Head Coach Laura Schuler says the Beavers in year’s past don’t reflect what they are now.

“They have played Minnesota really tight, they played St. Cloud really tight, they just sweep the Tommies so I think they’re a well structured team. Amber Fryklund is doing an excellent job there and obviously Emma Sobieck, who was with us last year. So I think they’re bringing a new flair to that program, new energy. We’re super excited to play them. We expect a really back and forth game, tough game against them. They have a really good goaltender right now, she’s at a 93 saves percentage and so we have to make sure we put pucks to net to be able to find the back of the net,” said Schuler.

The Bulldogs will look to extend their win streak to 14 against the Beavers at 3:01 PM on Friday.
