UMD Women’s Basketball Working with New Faces for the 2024-25 Season

The Bulldogs lost six seniors for last year.

DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD women’s basketball team began their 2024-25 season on November 8th.

The Bulldogs have started their non-conference play 1-2 on the year, with their first win coming against Northwestern Oklahoma State.

This year the program has several new faces as the Bulldogs lost six seniors for last year.

With a young new team comes new roles for players, which the Bulldogs will rely on during their non-conference play.

“Everybody, honestly in our program right now is stepping up in some sort of a way. Which is kind of the expectation, everybody is a leader. We have seen some people step up with their communication, even with communicating with our strength and conditioning coach between me and him. All these little things which are coming together really nice,” said head coach Mandy Pearson.

With a young team, the Bulldogs will have to learn how to play with one another in the early part of the season.

“I think as we continue to play more games we get better at more things. There are a lot of things that we learned playing in those first two games, so just getting better at the things we need to work on, continue to do those things will really help us as we continue on in the season,” said UMD shooting guard Claire Bjorge.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday, as they face Northern Michigan University.

Tip-off is at noon.
