Northern Star: Eve Gascon

Gascon has picked up six wins in her first 10 starts of the season.

DULUTH, Minn.- In her second full season as a Bulldog, goaltender Eve Gascon has taken a hold of the full-time starting spot.

“I feel good I mean I always want to play. That’s all the goalie wants and I just want to give a chance to my team to win. I’m always ready if they need me,” said Gascon.

And UMD sure has as Gascon has picked up six wins in her first 10 starts.

“It was great to be able to see Eve play back to back against Ohio State and against Minnesota and showcase what she can do. She’s definitely one of the best goalies in the world and we’re so lucky to have her,” added head coach Laura Schuler.

Which has only elevated the belief inside of the player.

“I have more confidence. My puck handling, I’m more confident to get out of my net to read plays. I know the league too so I think it’s all that that’s made me improve,” said Gascon.

All in hopes of getting her job done.

“When there’s lateral puck movement, she’s in possession before she even needs to get there and she makes saves look easy. Even when it’s a situation where she makes the save and she’s down some, she’s so athletic she still finds a way,” added Schuler.

Gascon and UMD will next host Vermont on Friday night.
