Body Of Missing Ice Skater Discovered In Superior Bay

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The body of a missing ice skater was found Monday afternoon in Superior’s Woodstock Bay.

Multiple law enforcement agencies from Wisconsin and Minnesota were on scene at the Pokegama boat launch in Superior Monday afternoon when they found the body of Gregory Garmer, 78, of Duluth.

Woodstock Bay is on the mouth St. Louis River near Billings Park.

Douglas County Sheriff Matt Izzard said Garmer was reported missing Sunday evening after he went ice skating on the bay around 1 p.m. Sunday and never returned home.

Temperatures have only recently been consistently below freezing for the Twin Ports.
