Selfless Basketball Propels Proctor Girls to 4-0 Start

PROCTOR, Minn.- The Proctor girls basketball team is off to a strong start this season.
A perfect 4-0 record, with all four wins having margins of 23 or more points.
The Rails have a number of key returners back including guards Lily Smith and Chloe Carlson and forwards Greta Gustavson and Presley Tapani.
Head Coach Matt Solberg says he’s pleased with where they’re at because there’s plenty of selfless basketball with everyone contributing every single game.
“Right now we’re in a place where we want to be. Nobody cares who scores and we’ve dressed 16 kids, all 16 kids have scored. We’re looking to make the extra pass and when our teammate makes the shot we celebrate it like it’s the Super Bowl, doesn’t matter who’s on the floor. That’s a cool place to be is that we have a lot of weapons who can score, makes us hard to defend,” said Solberg.
When all things seem to be going in their favor, the team knows they have plenty of things to work on still if they want to make the next step later in the season.
“I think just our chemistry as a team. We’ve all been playing together for a really long time. I think we just flow really well together, the offense, the defense, all of it. It’s a long season. We have to keep working on things each day, each game. Yeah, just rebounding, getting the right shots, all that type of stuff,” added forward Greta Gustavson.
Proctor will next be in action on Thursday when they play at Hermantown.
