Duluth Salvation Army Needs Bell Ringers
DULUTH, Minn.– With the holidays in full swing it’s as important as ever to remember to help make sure everyone has the holiday they deserve.
There are a couple factors for this year’s holiday season that is making things difficult for the salvation army.
The cost of living going up is a large reason.
They are also dealing with bell ringer cancellations, and without ringers the salvation army is unable to receive donations.
“If there’s no ringer, there’s no kettle. We don’t just leave kettles there. Maybe a dollar or fifty gets dropped in, there’s no point. So, when we don’t have any ringers, then we’re without any donation at that point,” said Cyndi Lewis, Community Engagement Director for Duluth Salvation Army.
Salvation Army already has a tougher goal to reach because of inflation impacting the cost of living.
“We have a higher goal this year because everything is costing more. So, we’re kind of in a double negative here with volunteers and our goal being higher. We can’t catch up to that with the way that it is right now,” said Lewis.
