UMD Women’s Hockey to Close Out 2024 Slate in St. Cloud

Just last season, UMD dropped only one game to St. Cloud State.

DULUTH, Minn.- The UMD women’s hockey team will wrap up play in 2024 this upcoming weekend as they make the short trek to St. Cloud to face the Huskies.

Just last season, UMD dropped only one game to St. Cloud State. They would win four and tie the other.

In her weekly presser Wednesday morning, head coach Laura Schuler complimented her upcoming opponent, citing the Huskies recent win against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

She added with playing at SCSU they’ve had to adjust some things in order to get ready to play on the big sheet of ice.

“Our tracking is going to have to be really paramount and important for us. We have to keep our D inside the dots. So our forwards are going to have to make sure they’re coming back hard and pushing pucks outside the dot line. So a lot of what we’re doing today and what we did on Monday was focusing on the defensive aspects of our game,” said Schuler.

“The game that they play, it’s physical. Focusing on St. Cloud this week, knowing their systems, knowing their tendencies and focusing our game on that. But at the end of the day, just focusing on us,” added defender Hanna Baskin.

The Bulldogs and Huskies drop the puck at 3 PM on Friday.
