Northern Star: Jane Eckstrom

Eckstrom totaled 35 points in the 2023-2024 season.

HERMANTOWN, Minn.- When a season ends, it’s sometimes hard to hit the reset button.

But for Proctor/Hermantown senior forward Jane Eckstrom, she’s picked up where she left off last year.

“Throughout my high school career, I think it’s been the same where I can just contribute all I have. As a senior, I definitely feel more of a leadership role. Probably bringing the positive impact and being someone that people can look up to is definitely a big thing for me this year,” said Eckstrom.

Bringing a jolt is no surprise to her coach Emma Stauber, whose had Eckstrom on the varsity roster since 2021.

“She’s very unpredictable and finds her way to the net. It’s just crucial that we can depend on her throughout the moments and the situations in a game and that just gives our team a lot of confidence,” added Stauber.

If one things for certain though, she’ll still find the back of the goal.

“Just try my hardest for getting the pucks to the net whenever I can. Just creating those offensive plays is a big part of the offensive game so just putting whatever I have towards the net,” said Eckstrom.

But scoring goals isn’t the most important thing about Jane.

“It’s hard until she’s gone it’s like you know what you have until it’s gone. So we know that we’re going to miss her fosure next year. She’s a very goofy, fun bubbly personality off the ice so that’s always huge for the team to have players like that,” added Stauber.

Eckstrom and the Mirage are next in action on December 14th against South St. Paul.
