Duluth Police Officer Pleads Guilty in Drunk Driving Incident

A Duluth Police Officer pleaded guilty Thursday to charges against him in an alleged drunken driving incident. 

As part of a plea agreement, 37-year-old Todd Kuusisto pleaded guilty to one count of Careless Driving.  Kuusisto was placed on one year of unsupervised probation and must pay $1085 in fines. 

He was originally charged with 4th-degree driving under the influence, 4th-degree driving while impaired, driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to yield right of way after stopping at a stop sign. 

The incident happened on December 30. 

Kuusisto has been on administrative leave and stripped of his police powers while an investigation continues into a domestic assault incident that took place on November 22. 

He was charged with 5th-degree domestic assault for an alleged altercation with his girlfriend. 

He will appear in court next week on those charges.
