Chester Bowl Begins Annual Ski & Snowboarding Lessons
DULUTH, Minn.– Chester Bowl is beginning their season of lessons and teaching kids all about shredding the slopes.
120 kids participated in the first day of ski and snowboard lessons.
Many of them learned the ropes on the bunny hill.
Today’s lessons included skills such as using the chair lift and conquering the hills with the infamous ‘pizza and French fry techniques.’
With Duluth experiencing a seasonal winter this year the Chester Bowl staff is feeling optimistic.
“It’s really fun and really rewarding. There’s a lot of kids that come into lessons now knowing if they can do it. And by the end of the day, they’re skiing and snowboarding. And they’ve got big smiles and the parents are proud. And it’s just a really awesome thing to be a part of,” said Sam Luoma, the Programs and Operations Manager for Chester Bowl.
For some of the participants skiing and snowboarding is now a skill passed down in their family.
“It’s great, it’s definitely a proud dad moment. Got her up for the first time last year, and now trying to get her to learn. They have such a great program here where you can rent the equipment, and you can use it at other places. I have a season pass at Spirit Mountain and that’s good here. And she can also ski there so it’s a really great program,” said Sam Weidt, a parent of one of the skiers.
Chester Bowl will be continuing their winter break free lessons until December 30th.
But starting in January, they will begin their weekend lessons that goes through February.
