Mid Range Honor Guard Honors Former President Jimmy Carter
HIBBING, Minn.– City of Hibbing first responders and veterans gathered today in remembrance of Former President Jimmy Carter.
The Mid-Range Honor Guard gave military honors for Jimmy Carter.
The remembrance took place at the Hibbing City Hall. Hibbing Fire and Police, as well as citizens attended the ceremony.
The guard gave the 21-gun salute, and taps was played as well.
The commander of the honor guard says he felt immense pride doing this celebration and they’re hoping to make this a tradition.
“For the Mid Range Honor Guard, it’s very important. This is the first time we’ve done anything like this. And I want to make this happen anytime one of our past presidents passes away,” said Gary R Westerberg, Commander of the Mid Range Honor Guard.
Jimmy Carter attended the US Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland and graduated in 1946.
He would go on to serve Active Duty Navy, and eventually Navy Reserves until 1961.
