Outdoor Trails Ready for Winter Activities
DULUTH, Minn.– Outdoor staff and enthusiasts alike are breathing a sigh of relief because ski trails are finally usable.
The trails are finally up and running, because they were finally groomed Monday morning.
Following the weekend snow, the trails are ready for mountain biking, snowshoeing, and skiing.
Being able to offer these activities after having a disappointing winter season is an exciting turn around for places like Hartley Nature Center.
“It was a really rough start to the winter. After the winter we had last year, you know we were a little bit frustrated. Aw man, where is the snow! But now that we finally have it, we feel super excited we’re very happy. We’ve got a lot of cool program opportunities coming up in a couple weeks. So, it’s just a really big relief that we finally have the snow,” said Matt Willey, Recreation and Stewardship Program Manager at Hartley Nature Center.
The cross-country ski trails at Hartley are groomed by the city of Duluth.
And to use them, they require the Great Minnesota Ski Pass. They’re available on the Minnesota DNR’s website.
The prices start at a $10 dollar day pass, to a $25 year-long pass.
Staff at Hartley also discourages people from walking on the ski trails, to maintain the groomed tracks.
