Important Tips for Braving Dangerous Temperatures

DULUTH, Minn.– The winter season is feeling a bit more seasonal this year, because some freezing cold temperatures are on the horizon.

The Northland is bracing for a cold stretch, lasting through next Wednesday.

With temperatures falling well into the negative teens and ’20s.

Temps that low matched with windchill are especially dangerous, because frostbite can occur in as little as ten minutes.

The National Weather Service in Duluth told FOX 21 that there are a few things to remember when on the road to avoid the bite.

“So, you want to make sure that you have extra sets of warm clothes, maybe a blanket. things like that. Just in case you were to end up getting stranded or something. Make sure you have warm clothes to keep you warm before help arrives that sort of thing. You also want to make sure you have jumper cables things like that to fix up your car in case you break down in the side of the road,” said Josh Sandstrom, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Duluth.

The National Weather Service also told FOX 21 that Duluth has not experienced temps this low since February 3rd of 2023.
