KYN: ‘Pho’licious’ Opens in DeWitt-Seitz Marketplace

DULUTH, Minn.– What used to be Taste of Saigon down in Canal Park now has a new name and new tastes.

The restaurant has rebranded as ‘Pho’licious’ and had opened on November 18th.

“Well, my wife has always loved to prepare food. And she’s always wanted a soup shop. So, it presented itself to us, and so we took it, and that’s pretty much it,” said Joel Perrin, a co-owner for Pholicious,

That love for soup, and other authentic Vietnamese dishes, turned into an opportunity to receive special training.

She took everything she learned from that experience and is applying it to ‘Pholicious’.

“She took the time, flew out to Washington DC, and got training from a professional chef. And acquired the ingredients for the new soups. And so that’s amazing,” said Perrin.

The pho itself is customizeable. The menu offers different protein options. Even after you get the soup, the add-ons don’t stop there.

“So, they can have it the way that it’s prepared. Which isn’t spicy at all. But you have an option to add a lot of spice to it. Because a lot of people like to add the spice to it. You can choose from different ingredients in it. You can have the meatball version; you can have a seafood version. You can have sliced beef version. There are different ways the person can order it to their own liking,” said Perrin.

Pholicious is putting a spotlight on pho, but they’re also keeping some of the classics Taste of Saigon left behind.

Dishes such as sesame chicken and fried rice dishes will be sticking around.

With any new business, nerves are natural. But they’re eager to get the word out.

“I’ll be honest, it’s stressful. In new business, any time you have a new business it’s difficult. But it’s exciting to come down here and prepare food for people,” said Perrin.

Pholicious is open 10:30 AM to 8 PM 7 days a week.

Right now, they’re working on ways to incorporate boba and bubble tea into their menu.

But for now, customers are able to enjoy an authentic bowl of pho.
